The Rajasthan Royals will be captained by Riyan Parag for the first three IPL 2025 matches. Although the Assam hitter serves as the team’s temporary leader, regular captain Sanju Samson will play in the games, albeit just as a batter, maybe suggesting that he will play an impact role.
Samson made the announcement of Parag’s captaincy during a casual team talk. Which was captured on camera and shared on social media by the Rajasthan Royals.
“I have not yet recovered to full fitness for the next three games,” Samson told the team.
“This team has a lot of leaders. Some wonderful people have taken excellent care of this environment over the past few years. Riyan will be the team’s captain for the next three games. I anticipate that everyone will stand by him and support him.
Sanju Samson is making a full recovery from the injury he received to his right index finger during the recent home Twenty20 International match against England. The wicket-keeper batsman has recovered quickly after facing surgery for the same reason. Samson will represent RR in the IPL captains’ meeting in Mumbai. While Riyan Parag is expected to oversee the first three games.
