Paris Olympics 2024: Indian shooters in action in women’s trap, Manu Bhaker eyes 2nd bronze

Live updates from the Paris Olympics 2024: Day 4 is filled with exciting events as Indian athletes compete in shooting, archery, hockey, rowing, boxing, and badminton.

India’s performance on the third day of the Paris Olympics 2024 was a mixed bag. While Manu Bhaker secured the first medal for the country on Day 2, shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta failed to make a mark in their individual events. Ramita finished 7th in the women’s 10m air rifle event, and Arjun narrowly missed out on a medal by finishing fourth. The Indian men’s hockey team managed a 1-1 draw against Argentina, but the disappointment continued in archery as the men’s team exited in the quarterfinals. However, the day ended on a positive note with Manika Batra becoming the first Indian paddler to reach the Round of 16 in table tennis. Despite this achievement, Day 3 was filled with missed opportunities for India.

The fourth day of the Paris Olympics 2024 sees India pinning its hopes for a second medal on the talented shooter, Manu Bhaker. After clinching a bronze in the 10m air pistol individual event, Bhaker is now teaming up with Sarabjot Singh for the mixed team competition. Their outstanding performance in the qualification round has secured them a place in the bronze medal match, set to take place on Tuesday. A win in this match would greatly enhance India’s medal count.

The morning will be filled with shooting events. Prithviraj Tondaiman will strive for success in the men’s trap qualification, while Shreyasi Singh and Rajeshwari Kumari will participate in the women’s trap qualification. Additionally, rower Balraj Panwar will compete in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles sculls.

In the upcoming Pool B match, India is set to compete against Ireland on the hockey field. Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Argentina, the team is determined to claim three points. Meanwhile, archery, which has not met expectations in team events, presents an opportunity for redemption in the individual competitions. Ankita Bhakat and Bhajan Kaur will participate in the women’s individual 1/32 elimination round, while Dhiraj Bommadevara will face his opponent in the men’s category.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be competing against Indonesia’s Alfian Fajar and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the group stage of the Badminton tournament. Meanwhile, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto are determined to clinch their first victory in the women’s doubles group stage.

Amit Panghal will be leading the Indian charge in the boxing ring, where he is set to face Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the men’s 51kg round of 16. The nation will be eagerly anticipating updates on the performance of its athletes throughout the day, with hopes for more medal-winning moments.
